It makes a nasty clank-clank-clank noise when I move with the steering wheel at full lock to the right.

The clutch pedal has to be pulled up with your foot when it’s hot out and you just start driving.

It’s a slow POS that gets terrible MPG.

It never gets to tow, even though I have a project car, sailboat (with a ripped sail and non-starting outboard) and motorcycle (with a bad starter clutch)

It never gets to offroad, because Virginia is the worst for offroading.

Guessing the clank clank at full lock is the front axles yea?

Other than that stuff how do you like it? I’m looking for a gen 1.5 when VW buys back my diesel. I was thinking of $4-$6k for a truck with some preventative maintenance included. Maybe some light mods like a PML and skidplates.

EDIT: Also the clutch master needs replaced?

It’s done the sticking thing with the clutch since about a month after I bought it— seems to stick *after* the point where the clutch has fully engaged, so I’ve never stressed on it— it’s second nature to pull it up at this point.

Clank clank is at full lock, only to the right. Sound comes from the front, can’t place to left or right side. I asked a Nissan dealership and they pointed at what looks like a suspension stop— doesn’t seem to cause any problems.

I like it— I’ve got some cheap, beefy Yokohama Geolandar A/Ts on it— we call it the Beasterra, ever since it got us through 24" of unpaved snow this past winter. Should be great for towing, when I get a new sail, and 4X4'ing. Mine is a 2002 SE, the 3.3 and associated drivetrain, which are bulletproof, from what I can tell. Torquey, but no power. Just enough to get out of its own way. I haven’t heard the same about the later units (2004+)... apparently more issues with the drivetrain. That 60HP would be nice though.
